I have a habit of trying to think about how lucky I am. I make a decent living, we are mostly healthy, we get along most of the time. Not everything is fun but compared to most people in the world, and compared to most past people, I have huge amounts of fun. I eat at restaurants 5-10 times per month, which would be rediculous for anyone in my parent's generation.
When it comes to work, sure it's a hassle sometimes. I have meetings I don't want to attend, I get frustrated about things I don't want to do, or that disturb me when I'd rather do something else. But I do have plenty of time to play, and to do my own projects. I control the absolute majority of my time.
When I do get time for my own projects when working, it is really fun. I can go days just thinking about how to solve my latest project, writing small mental notes in my head that will eventually go in some README file or design document. Then it really doesn't matter that many such projects won't actually see the light of day.
